Sports tape vs rigid strapping tape — which do you need?

• Kinesiology sports tape (this page) stretches to about 140% of its length and moves with you. It supports a muscle or joint, eases the pull on a sore tendon and can be worn for up to 7 days through showers and training. Use it for muscle strains, tendon pain, shin splints, knee tracking, shoulder and back support, swelling.
• Rigid zinc-oxide strapping tape does not stretch. It locks a joint still — an ankle you must not roll again in the second half, a finger buddy-strap. It comes off after the match. We do not sell it; a pharmacy does.

If the question is "can I keep moving with support?" the answer is the elastic tape below. If it is "stop this joint moving at all", you want rigid tape.

How many rolls
