The Best Adhesion With Kinesiology Tape

Kinesiology tape is designed to stay on once applied for at least a few days. If it starts to peel or lift it likely means it has not been applied correctly and the best addition has not been achieved. Here are some tips to ensure that you get the best stick when applying your kinesiology tape.

Ensure your skin is washed: always begin by washing the area that you are going to apply kinesiology tape to. Skin creams, perfumes, deodorants as well as general dirt from life can all impact on the ability of the tape to stick well.

Shave the Area: even if you don’t consider yourself to be particularly hairy, it’s important that you shave the skin before you apply your kinesiology tape.

Dry Well: once you have cleaned and shaved the area ensure that you dry the skin very well. The tape can cope with water from showers and sweating once it has been applied but it won’t do very well to apply it on wet skin. The reason it is water resistant is because you have achieved a good stick first.

Use Surgical Spirit: We then recommend using a degreasing agent, for example surgical spirit this is really good at ensuring that there is no oil or grease left on the skin. Again you need to apply the surgical spirit and make sure it is dry before continuing on with the application.

Ensure the tape is flat When you apply the tape to the skin make sure it is smooth and not wrinkled. It needs to be laying flat on the skin otherwise the adhesive won’t work well and also you run the risk of the wrinkles causing blisters or sores.

Give it a rub: Finally, once you've placed the tape on the treatment area, rub or apply warmth for a short period. Doing so will activate the heat-sensitive adhesive and encourage KINESIOLOGY SPORTS TAPE to bond to your skin securely.

NB: Once applied ensure that you leave an hour to allow it to bond well before showering or getting sweaty. After showering or a workout pat the tape dry with a soft towel or use a hairdryer on a low, not hot setting.
