Using Sports Tape For Big Injuries - Bad Move??

One thing that we love the most about kinesiology sports tape is that you can use it to try and help your body recover whilst being able to maintain a level of physical fitness at the same time. When you’ve got small injuries, you can use sports tape to provide yourself with the support that you need and still be able to exercise, but how well does it work for big problems? If you seriously injure yourself playing a sport, not to the level that you need hospitalisation but to a concerning degree, can sports tape provide the necessary help that you need to keep going? We decided to answer it once and for all. 

Sports Tape is Great For Injuries…

Let’s start off with a good thing first. Kinesiology sports tape is a great choice for making sure that you get the best results when it comes to giving your body the support it needs during tough times. The great thing about sports tape is that it can be used in a wide range of different ways. People love using sports tape because it is a very flexible resource and because it supports the body. When you slightly sprain yourself or pull something, sports tape provides you with the necessary support that you need to keep exercising.

… But It’s Not a Cure-All

We love kinesiology sports tape, but nobody can deny that it does have limitations. Kinesiology sports tape can be used in a wide range of different situations, but the one thing that you can’t do is use it to keep going when you’ve pulled your entire upper body out of sync, or you’ve twisted an ankle, broken a bone, or even had a fracture. The thing that you absolutely have to remember is that kinesiology sports tape is a great resource. However, there are some situations where the body just needs to be able to heal without you putting pressure on it. 

Take a twisted ankle, for example. Yes, you could use sports tape as a way to move around slowly without causing yourself too much injury, but that doesn’t mean you can go straight back to running on it. Ultimately, you’ve got to be sensible with how you do things, and this means taking the time to appreciate when your body needs to heal and not pushing it too much further. For all it can do, kinesiology sports tape won’t be able to help you with serious injuries. 

Final Thoughts 

So, while we absolutely love kinesiology sports tape and encourage you to use it in a wide range of situations, it’s not suitable as a replacement for rest. You have to allow your body time to heal in many different situations, so it’s absolutely imperative that you take the time to be sensible about it. Your sports tape won’t work properly if you don’t use it in the way it was intended, so it’s important to recognise the difference between a small injury that you can patch up and a big injury you have to take time off exercising for.
